Solve the mortgage issue: Let Americans buy it back.

I have embedded a CNBC video from this morning. This actually makes a little sense.

  • Government buys up mortgages for cents on the dollar.
  • Government turns becomes the broker for the homeowner.
  • Homeowner goes to the bank with reduced mortgage due to decline in home values.
  • Bank issues new loan.
  • Homeowner gets a new loan on the current value of the house.

Airtime: Thurs. Feb. 26 2009 | 6:50 AM ET Whether the key to the financial mess is to allow Americans to buy their own mortgages at discounted prices, with Lou Brien, DRW Trading Group and CNBC’s Steve Liesman.
